Keel Mountain Fire & Rescue
Welcome to our site! The Keel Mountain Volunteer Fire Department (KMVFD) is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, 100% volunteer membership association representing the interests of the volunteer fire, EMS and rescue services in the community of Keel Mountain, Gurley, Alabama. The primary goal of the KMVFD is to serve the surrounding community by protecting life, property and the environment. The department is staffed with an all-volunteer force with diverse and specialized skill sets to meet the wide-ranging demands for the community.
We were founded on March 8, 1976 and incorporated as a non-profit on January 13, 1981. In addition to fire suppression, Keel Mountain firefighters provide many other valuable services to the community, including emergency medical treatment, search and rescue services and response to hazardous weather.
KMVFD covers 11 square miles which includes 2.5 square miles of Jackson County. We operate seven pieces of apparatus out of a single fire station, and average over two hundred and fifty fire and medical calls a year.
Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month, beginning at 7 pm, Board meetings are held on the third Tuesday of January, April, July, and October, beginning at 6:30 pm; the public is always welcome.
We are always looking for new members, firefighters, EMS personnel, or just a social member. If firefighting is not your thing, there are other jobs to be done on a fire scene, many hands make light work. Drop us a line, we will find a space for you! The membership application is available for download below.
